  • Which courses/tests do you prepare students for?
Currently coaching services are offered for: - Standardized tests SAT, ACT, and the PSAT. - Targeted Math courses such as Algebra I, II, Geometry, Pre-calculus. - Freshman and Sophomore English - College Counseling service offered for students 9-12 grade. Services and the length of time varies by student's need. Please fill the Contact form with specifics and the Coach will contact you.
  • Which test (ACT or SAT) is better for my student?
There is no one simple answer to this. The fundamental material to learn is about 80% common between the two tests, which makes it easier for students to switch between the two. Sureprep Academy, through its instruction and in-class practice sessions, helps students experience the nuances of both the tests. In the process, students figure out (with the help of the coach) the test that is better for them. They then make one test their top choice and spend several hours of Intense practice for that test.
  • Are students grouped based on skill level and/or grade?
Students are organized into smaller groups based on skill+grade level. The grouping is done to a point where no student slows down the entire class; likewise, no student should feel bored in the class. Students needing extra help are identified and are offered the help they need on the side.
  • How do you communicate with parents?
Communication whether in group or one-on-one, is via the Discord forum or individual messages. Oftentimes, Sureprep Coach makes personal calls to parents to let them know of any important updates regarding their student. Parents have a chance to schedule a Parent-Teacher conference (15mins) once every 2 months through a scheduling app.
  • How many students are in a class?
Each core instructional session is a small-medium sized group class with 6-10 students. However, test review sessions are much smaller groups.
  • How do I enroll in a Program?
Please fill out the Sign-up form on website. If you have any questions before Sign-up, please fill out the "Contact" form, also on the Website. The SurePrep Coach will reach out to you via your preferred mode for communication. A Payment in full (or arrangement for 2 instalments) is mandatory to confim enrolment.
  • Can I enroll after the Program has started?
Yes, for up to 2 weeks after the class has started for a batch. The classes missed in the initial 2 weeks will be made-up. For Juniors and rising Seniors, it is a rolling admission as students generally take advantage of testing dates through the year.
  • What is the difference between the Standard and Accelerated program?
The curriculum taught is exactly the same across the programs, and the only difference is the speed at which it is delivered. Standard program is normally offered to students who wish to take their official test in about 8 -12 months. 9th graders, who do not take the test for at least 18months also enroll in the Standard Program. Students in the standard program usually attend 2-3 hours/week. Accelerated class starts and finishes in about 3-4months during summer time, meeting about 8hours/week. The same class may take 3-6months to finish during the academic year.
  • Where are classes conducted?
Currently, classes are held both in-person and Live Online (via zoom) modes. Some classes are hybrid in nature. In-person classes are held in many Chicago suburban locations, such as Aurora, Bartlett, Buffalo Grove, Arlington Heights and Lake Zurich. This has been a period of both adjustment and refinement for many aspects.
  • Who teaches the classes?
Majority of the curriculum for both SAT and ACT is taught by the SurePrep Academy Coach (Sailaja Naishadham). For review sessions, there will be often student help who had studied at SurePrep Academy and excelled on their standardized tests.
  • How many practice tests students take normally throughout the program?
The class is typically a mix of instruction in all subject areas - using whiteboard and SurePrep Lesson Plan - guided practices, and a series of intense practice/review sessions. Students do start with some books recommended by the Coach, and SurePrep Academy supplements with other material: English grammar worksheets, topic-wise math problems, Reading passages, and real SAT or ACT tests etc. Students take approximately 12 -15 tests (some of them proctored at the Academy) before their first official Test.
  • Do we have to buy any books?
Yes. SurePrep will recommend some books to purchase (approx. $100) before the start of the class and students should bring the books to class everytime.
  • Is any homework assigned at the end of the class?
Yes. No class is perfect without practicing at home. Students should be prepared for about 2hrs HW/week initially and about 4hrs HW/week ahead of the official test.
  • What is the policy around missed classes?
If the students misses a class, the student MUST communicate (via personal Whatsapp) about the absence. The student will then work with the coach for a make-up class. Make-up classes should be taken care of within a 4-week period of the said absence (exceptions should be discussed). There will be fixed make-up schedule on the coach's calendar and students should sign-up for a date that works for them. There will be no refund for the class that the student misses. If the Coach misses a class, the Coach will communicate with the parents and students about it as early as is possible. The class (or the hours) will be made-up by adding hours to future classes, scheduling an extra class, or simply extending the duration of the program. If the Coach is unable to make-up the class, fees will be refunded duly.
  • How is attendance tracked?
Students enter attendance into a Google portal each time they attend the class.
  • How does class scheduling work?
On the Sign-up form, the student/parent selects a day and time that works for them based on the program they choose or recommended by the coach. Coach will then group students based on several factors (such as grade, skill level, etc) and assigns them to a "class".
  • I have unused hours; what can I do with those?
Typically, the program ends when the student either finishes his/her 100 hours OR completes the 15 review tests - whichever happens first. Certain exceptions and accommodations can be made on a student-to-student basis.
  • How and when should payments be made?
Payment in full or in 2 instalments (+3% more) is required to confirm enrolment. Prefer to use Quickpay or Zelle for payments. Please contact the coach for bank details. Check is fine.
  • What is your refund policy?
Refunds will be given if enrollment is cancelled before the 1st instructional class. If cancelled within 2 weeks of the start of the program, refunds will be prorated for hours attended. If cancelled after 3 weeks and within 6 weeks, 25% of the balance payment (balance = total payment - payment for completed class hours) will be withheld. Refunds will NOT be given if enrollment is cancelled after 8 sessions.
  • Is a payment plan possible?
Yes. Payment can be made in 2 instalments. But if choosing a payment plan, in order to keep the student's family and the Academy committed both ways until the end of the chosen program, there will be a 3% additional fee charged upfront along with Payment 1.
  • Are any fee discounts offered?
No. Please contact the coach to discuss your specific need.
